Amy and Joe Versaggi celebrated their New Year exactly four minutes after the ball dropped in Times Square this year. However, the Versaggi’s were a distance from the activity of New York City. Instead they were on the fifth floor of the BWH’s Connors Center for Women’s Health, laying eyes on their brand new daughter, Grace Edie Versaggi, who entered the world at 12:04 a.m. that morning. Her arrival made the holiday especially memorable for her proud parents.
As Boston’s first baby of 2004, Grace, her parents and her three-year-old big sister Abby, received special media attention with coverage in the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald and all of the Boston broadcast news outlets, including New England Cable News.
A resident of Carlisle, Massachusetts, Versaggi had delivered her daughter Abby at BWH three years earlier and had no doubt that she wanted to return to BWH for her second baby. “My husband Joe and I had such a wonderful experience at the Brigham when I had Abby, and we would really not have had it any other way for our second child,” said Versaggi.
BWH presented the Versaggi family with a congratulatory gift basket filled with baby items and other treats.
